I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels like I’ve been a hot mess since this quarantine started. I’ve completely lost all track of time and ditched my usual schedule. The beginning it was definitely bad and filled with many glasses of wine and unproductive days, however, I feel like everything is finally coming back together. Whether you’re still in quarantine or reading this months after, here’s a few tips on how to get your life together when you feel like you’ve lost control.
- MAKE YOUR BED
Honestly, it might seem like such a mundane task, but somehow whenever I make my bed in the mornings it just FEELS like I have my sh*t together and that’s a start! Wake up refreshed, make your bed, and get ready to conquer the day.
- Schedule your days
I would say you could start with a to-do list, but this doesn’t do much unless you do. This is where making a real schedule comes in. The most important part is that you stick with it. It takes time to get used to, but if you follow through with it for a full week it’ll just get easier. If you’re more productive during the days, then I would suggest waking up early and finishing up the things you have to do then. If you need a push to work out, then schedule a time in the day that you’re free and get it done!
Try and get all of the important tasks done earlier and the more mundane ones after. If you need to clean your house, then sort out one day a week to tidy up. Setting a schedule definitely helps motivate me to get things done and I always push myself to conform to it for at least a full week so I can get used to it. I actually made myself one to help me get back on track while everything starts up again, if you’d want to save it for reference (scroll down).
- Keep up with a routine
Staying healthy is super important when it comes to getting your life back together. We may not notice it, but when we’re feeling down and out of place we tend to start eating junk food, drinking more, and not focusing on our health! I would suggest meal prepping to feel more in control of what you’re eating every week or simply sticking to a certain diet that makes you feel good! There’s also a cool ‘weekly eats’ planner that helps you keep track of your diet too!
Along with this, I’m not sure about you, but when I keep up with my skincare routine it makes me feel so good and is a total mood-booster for me. So, if this works for you, then do it! I would just say do what makes you feel happy and healthy, since that’s the most important part. If working out is your thing and you feel like you’ve been slacking (like me), then get back on it!
- Take some time for yourself
This is so important when you feel out of control and like things are just not going right for you. Take time for yourself and try to stray from the usual time-consumers such as: social media, TV, podcasts, etc. Take some meditative time for yourself and relax outside, feel the breeze, try yoga, maybe a bullet journal, and get in touch with you! Honestly, if watching movies helps you relax then do just that, you can check out my post on some great movies on Netflix & Hulu to find one too. There are very few times when we are not being fed information so, it’s always good to take a breather. Put on some soft music and turn off your thoughts for as long as you’d like.
- Find your control
If you’re feeling lost or out of control, take it back! Find something that helps you feel like you’re back in control of your life and use it to guide you out of any situation. Whether this be working out, taking a long bath, or finding a time everyday that you just take for yourself.

I hope this helps you get everything sorted and feel like you have a little more control in whatever situation you may be in.
