Hedi Slimane took over as the creative director at Céline in 2018 and has give the brand a fresh new look inspired by the former house emblem, the ”Triomphe” logo. Celine’s Triomphe logo was originally created by Céline Vipiana, the founder, who was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris after her car broke down right in front of it. As a child, Slimane grew up watching his mom wear Celine and always loved the Triomphe symbol. It is only fitting that once Slimane joined the house as their creative director, he pay homage to that time in his life and bring the logo back.

The reimagined Triomphe logo has not only brought the brand more popularity, but it has also created a timeless Celine design that we will be seeing for years to come. The bag originally caught my attention because of it’s sleek design and understated elegance with the gold Triomphe emblem. I’ve had the bag for about a month now and have had enough time to get to know it’s in’s and out’s as well as if there is anything I would’ve done differently with my purchase. I’ll be going through all the details in this review!
Design and Functionality:
This shoulder bag is a relatively simple design with it’s baguette shape and belt-like strap. The stand out design is the hardware, which of course, features the stunning Triomphe logo which also functions as the closure for the bag’s flap. It’s a classic and timeless design with many color options and styles. The strap can be adjusted a bit and you could also tuck it in if you’d opt to wear it like a clutch, although it might take up some space.
I will say, I found the size of the bag to be just right, however, the interior is a little more compact than I’d like. The bag is capable of fitting all of my essentials (keys, wallet, lipstick), but not without a little effort. Although the interior is long, it is slim and as such requires that you organize your things in the right position to make it fit. Which makes getting in and out of the bag when you’re on the go a little difficult. However, as I don’t tend to carry much on the day to day basis, it’s works great for me.
My Biggest Recommendation:
If you’re looking for a timeless piece that will elevate any outfit, this is the bag for you. It comes in many different colors and designs to match your personal style. I would choose a color or pattern that matches your wardrobe so that you’ll be able to use it more frequently. If you’re looking for a larger bag, this purse also comes in a larger style or if you want to find something similar, I’d say the Gucci Jackie 1961 bag might be for you. As always, I recommend playing it safe by sticking with a neutral color, but if you want to add some color to your closet go for it!
