Fashion Icon: Remembering Sonia Rykiel. Sonia Rykiel was a one of a kind French fashion designer that was named the “Queen of Knits” because of her infamous knitwear designs and new fashion techniques. She showcased true Parisian chic in each one of her designs.
On August 25, 2016 Sonia, at the age of 86 lost her battle to Parkinson’s disease after 20 years. Her funeral was filled with emotional speeches and a beautiful performance by violinist Renaud Capuçon. The ceremony brought light to all of Sonia’s achievements and her fashion legacy. Today, we are showcasing all her of her designs that will forever leave an everlasting mark on in the way fashion is viewed today.
