Although one might believe that wearing a bralette as outerwear is a scandalous trend, it’s not as risqué as you might think. A bralette is a classic wardrobe piece that is versatile and meant to be shown off! There are many different types of bralettes that will conform to every body type and they come in many different fabrics to keep you comfortable. Whether it is fully lace, halter style, or wired, you’re bound to feel confident and look stylish.
What is a Bralette?
Bralettes have always been known to be the “comfort” bra. Something you can wear when you don’t want to feel confined with underwire and padding. Bralettes became popular in the early 2010’s as the comfortable undershirt bra. However, early into 2020 they soon gained more popularity, as women began working at home and didn’t feel the need to wear a conventional bra. Due to this, brands began to take notice of the trend. They then began to emphasize that bralettes should not just be about comfort, but they should be an accessory to your wardrobe.
Lingerie brands then began to focus on designing more bralettes that would not only be comfortable, but stylish. Cosabella is one of these brands and they have designed Pret a Porter “Ready to Wear” bralettes. These are bralettes that could be worn as tops. With this change, women could now style their bralettes and turn them into outfits. Since a bralette is more decorative and detailed than an average bra, there are many possibilities for how to style.
How to Style
When it comes to styling a bralette, the possibilities are endless! You can pair it with a button-down shirt, mesh top, knitted-sweater, just about anything that will bring out the beauty of the piece. One of the latest trends is actually wearing it over a white t-shirt for a seductive aesthetic. If the look is styled properly, it will give you a chic and effortless appearance. Whether you’re heading out for dinner, lunch, or even drinks with the girls this look is always a show-stopper. If you’re going for a casual look, a bralette could be styled with a pair of jeans and a low-cut shirt. As well as even under a loose-knit sweater. One of my favorite ways of styling it, is wearing it on top of a white t-shirt. If you’re looking to dress it up add some high-waisted pleated pants, cardigan or blazer, and add your accessories! If you’re looking for a daring look, wear the bralette under a mesh or sheer top. Bralettes are so versatile, they could be styled in multiple ways depending on the type of look you’re going for.
