2018 FIFA World Cup fashion: Outfit Ideas. Celebrate your favorite team. The 2018 FIFA World Cup competition is up and running and we are beyond excited. While the main topic for the 2018 FIFA World Cup is soccer, the event is also a celebration of different cultures and the people who make up each of the participating countries.
This year, Russia is the host country and many people hope this will be a victorious year for them for many reasons you’ll see below. This special occasion has inspired me to create outfits for each of the nations competing in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. No matter who you’re rooting for, it’s important to have a great outfit for each of the games. Whether its a cute jersey or a plain t-shirt, get ready to celebrate!
While scrolling down, you’ll also see a brief history on each of the teams. That way, if you’re like me and dont know much on soccer history, you’ll know more about your favorite teams
Argentina
Argentina is known for it’s successful World Cup history. They’ve won 2 titles, in 1978 and 1986. Their most recent appearance in the finals was in 2014 when they played (and lost) against Germany.
They have participated 16 times in the World Cup throughout the tournament’s history and is currently placed 5th in the FIFA ranking. Argentina is also known for being the home of the all-time famous soccer player Messi.
Australia
Australia has participated in the World Cup 4 times. They are known for their supportive and passionate fans, but have never won a title or been to the finals. They are placed at 40th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Belgium
Belgium has been in the World Cup 12 times and currently holds no titles. Belgium is, however, currently placed 3rd in FIFA’s official ranking which most hope will give them a successful run for the finals this year.
Brazil
Brazil currently holds the record for most World Cup victories in history. Having won an impressive 5 times ( in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and most recently in 2002). Known for having one of the greatest teams, they also have some of the greatest Brazilian players such as Pele and Neymar.
In 2014, they hosted the last World Cup and are placed at 2nd in the FIFA ranking. No matter who you are rooting for, whoever Brazil plays will definitely be a great game.
Colombia
Colombia has made 5 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. Placed at 16th in the FIFA official ranking, they have a large passionate fan base.
Costa Rica
Costa Rica has had 4 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. Placed at 25th in FIFA’s official ranking. Since the USA didn’t qualify for the World Cup this year, this look would also work perfectly for the 4th of July.
Croatia
Croatia has had 4 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. Currently placed at 18th in FIFA’s official ranking, they qualified for this years game by kicking Greece out of the running and taking their spot.
Denmark
Denmark has had 4 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. Placed at 12th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Egypt
Egypt has had 2 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. This is a big year for Egypt as it is the first time they’ve made it to the World Cup in 28 years. Â The team is currently placed at 46th in FIFA’s official ranking.
England
England has had 14 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds 1 title. England is currently placed 14th in FIFA’s official ranking.
France
France has had 14 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds one title. France is currently placed 7th in FIFA’s official ranking. This is probably one of my favorite looks as I am rooting for France.
Germany
Germany is in the running to make history for their team this year. Although Brazil has the most World Cup victories, Germany has had the most appearances in the finals. They hold 4 titles (1954, 1974, 1990 and 2002) along with 18 appearances in the World Cup. They are placed at 1 in FIFA’s official ranking.
If Germany wins this year, they will be at a tie with Brazil for having the most World Cup victories, as well as the record for the most appearances in the finals.
Iceland
This is an exciting time for Iceland as it will be their first time ever participating in the competition, which is definitely exciting for all their fans. The team is currently placed 22nd in FIFA’s official ranking. We wish Iceland all the best as they play their first ever World Cup.
Iran
Placed at 36th in FIFA’s official ranking, Iran has had 4 appearances in the World Cup and has no titles.
Japan
Japan has had 5 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 60th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Korea
Korea has had 9 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 57th in FIFA’s official ranking. Don’t forget to watch their first game against Sweden tomorrow, June 18th.
Mexico
Placed at 15th this year in FIFA’s official ranking, Mexico has had 15 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles.
Morocco
Moroccan fans are very excited this year as it is their first appearance in the World Cup since 1998 where they won against Scotland. Having had 4 appearances in the World Cup, they hold no titles.
Nigeria
Nigeria has had 5 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 48th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Panama
It is also an exciting year for Panama as it will be their first time making an appearance in the competition. They are ranked at 55th in FIFA’s official ranking. We are sending our best wishes to Panama!
Peru
Peru hasn’t played in the World Cup since 1982, so it is a big year for this team. They are placed at 11th in FIFA’s official ranking, which most people believe gives them a shot at making history pass the quarter finals which they have never done.
Poland
Currently placed at 7th, it seems Poland has a great chance at making history this year. Although they have never made it to the finals, they have finished in 3rd place twice (1974 and 1982). Their last appearance at the World Cup was in 2006.
Portugal
Known for their star player Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal has had 6 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. Although they have never made it to the finals, they have one 3rd and one 4th place finishing. Â The team is currently placed 4th in FIFA’s official ranking, which some hope will be Portugal’s year to make it to the finals.
Russia
Russia has had 10 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 70th in FIFA’s official ranking. Being this year’s host nation they will have a chance to share their history and culture. They’re already off to a great start with a 5-0 win against Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s last appearance in the World Cup was in 2006 and they have had 4 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 67th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Senegal
Having had 1 appearance in the World Cup and no titles, the team is currently placed 27th in FIFA’s official ranking. In the 2002 World Cup, they made it to the quarter finals, which is very well for their first World Cup.
Serbia
Serbia has made 2 appearances in the semi-finals  (1930 and 1962) where they won 4th place both times. The last time they participated in the World Cup was in 2010. Serbia has had 11 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 34th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Spain
Spain won their first title against the Netherlands in 2010 and is currently ranked 10th in the FIFA official ranking. They have had 2 appearances in the semi-finals and have 14 appearances in the World Cup with one title. Their star player is Sergio Ramos who is known as the second most capped player in the history of Spain.
Sweden
Sweden has had 11 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 24th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Switzerland
Switzerland has had three appearances in the quarter-finals (1934, 1938, 1954) and has had 10 appearances in the World Cup. They currently hold no titles and are currently placed 6th in FIFA’s official ranking.
Tunisia
Tunisia has had 4 appearances in the World Cup and currently holds no titles. The team is currently placed 21st in FIFA’s official ranking.
Uruguay
In 1930, Uruguay made history as it was the first World Cup ever played and it was also held in Uruguay so their victory was right at home! They are currently placed 14th in FIFA’s official ranking. They’ve won both finals they’ve appeared in and been in five semi-finals! With 12 appearances in the World Cup and two titles (1930 and 1950).
