Virgil Abloh Debut’s Historic Louis Vuitton SS19 Menswear Collection
Virgil Abloh Debut’s Historic Louis Vuitton SS19 Menswear Collection. Louis Vuitton changed the history of streetwear with the debut of its anticipated SS19 menswear Collection, by their new creative director Virgil Abloh.
The runway was designed with a beautiful gradient rainbow, along with a t-shirt in the seat of every guest. This was a historic moment, not only for Louis Vuitton, but for Virgil Abloh. A true tribute to his humble beginnings he wrote in an Instagram post, “like some kids today I started the surreal mission without “fashion school” but a blank t-shirt, a screen printed idea for it and a dream.”
Along with the show, there was a document titled “The Vocabulary According to Virgil Abloh” which included Abloh’s definitions of fashion terminology. In other words, a way of showing what fashion means to him.
Among the celebrities that decorated this event was an emotional Kanye West, whose songs were implemented into the show. Virgil got a number of artists to walk in the presentation including A$AP Nast, Octavian and Kid Cudi.
